Question Synthetic or regular oil for DOHC?

I recently purchased a '97 Cobra. I have read over the last few months about valves sticking due to synthetic oil use. Wondering what is the best oil (brand and weight) to use in a motor with 50K on the odometer. NA motor, no blower this time.

I use Mobile 5w-30 Full synthetic in my cobra, have not had any problems at all. Runs great and you can feel more power if you switch from regular oil too.
They did a test and Mobil was the one oil that bested all the rest and was proven to actually prolong engine life above all the rest. The only other oil I'll use is AMSOIL. Tom

My Cobra has been using Mobil 1 5W-30 since the first oil change at 1000 miles. Car now has 42,000 miles on it and has absolutely no problems, not even valve rattle at startup like some people complain about. I usually have to add about half a quart nearing the 3000 mile mark, but thats with a lot of high rpm driving...

I run ow-30 in my cobra. One year drain intervals with Amsoil. Mobil 1 is good as well. If you want amsoil, email me.

Good choice. I change filter and top off every 3K and full change at 6K.

OIL

I use Mobil 1 5w30 and change oil & filter @ 5000, been working well for me. Use a good filter, Purolator Pure 1, Mobil 1 filter, Motorcraft, K&N.

Ditto as goldenpony. Mobil 1 is the best..if Porsche's are factory filled with the stuff you know it's good. I've used it from day 1 and I haven't had any mechanical problems at all and no funny noises.

Good luck with your Mobil. K&N supposedly makes a good oil filter too.
