Service Engine Soon light 99 Cobra

I have a 99 Cobra Roush stage 2 which I added theVortech supercharger kit last May. A couple weeks ago I had it dyno tuned because of excessive pinging. It now runs great but the Service Engine Soon light came on. A friend used a scanner and determined the code was 0605 something to do with Internal ROM error in the car's computer. I took it to the dealer who immediately refused to touch it do to the modifications.

Any ideas how to fix it? Like I said, the car is running the best ever but the light bugs me.

Ok, well, my guess would be that your chip might have something to do with it. You might also want to try in the EEC forum. Seems like I remember reading somewhere that the new computers will throw a check engine light if there is a custom chip. Try removing the chip and disconecting the battery for 30 mins-1hr. Then hook the battery up and crank it up with out the chip in there and see what happens.

The other thing I can think of is that you might have done some kind of damage to the computer(bad ground) or something.

Safe thing to do would be to take it back to your tuner and see what he has to say.

If you want to get the 99 service manual CD, that covers your cobra, here is the link.

You'll find the directions on there as well. Just make sure you lable the CD 1999Car when you burn it.

The directions are the Readme.txt file on that page by the way.
