Are their any mufflers you can put on a O/R X and actually sound good, not raspy?

Looking into getting longtubes but don't want the hassle of not being able to drop the trans because of the longtubes. The solution obviously is the hooker LT's but I really dont want an X pipe, is there anyway you can hook up a offroad H to the headers? Is it even possible? If not what kind of mufflers sound good with an offroad X. I had a bassani o/r x pipe with the stock bullitt mufflers and they sounded horrible, little better with the race magnums but still too raspy. What i really want is that good old H-pipe/flows sound but i want the LT to clear the trans as well, am i asking for too much?

I'm interested as well. I have a friend with a 2000 GT, bassani o/r x and borla mufflers. It sounds pretty good, not raspy and pretty deep. I wonder if Dynomax Ultra Flows would sound good?

I'm sure you could bolt up a H pipe to hooker long tubes. If you cant you can just get a muffler shop to make it fit, It shouldn't be too expensive. My friend got a full custom 3" exhaust from turbo back for $300.

99 Cobra w/ headers, o/r xpipe, and Dynomax Ultra Flow welded mufflers (Race Magnums). This will be my next system when it comes time for the headers!

Hey:

On my '99 GT, I had shorty headers, a Dr. Gas X-pipe (MILS) and Magnaflow cat-back. It sounded fockink AWESOME. Not raspy or blatty, just a nice even tone. Kind of quiet at idle or half throttle, but it howled at WOT.

I used to drive around with the stereo off, just to listen to that exhaust. Best sounding Mustang I ever owned.
