While I think the light bars look really nice, I'd recommend that you consider a real roll bar for your vert. I had mine padded and upholstered, and it looks pretty good. Plus its nice to know I've got some rollover protection... just in case.

I have one sitting in my floor waiting to be installed. I think they make a vert look awesome!

I vote "no" and I have to agree with Steve. A "light bar" counts as rice in my book, because a) it's just for looks, and b) it's pretending to be something it ain't (a real roll bar).

They DO look good, I think, but the hood scoop on a Mustang looks good, too, and I call it "factory rice" because it's not functional. Same reason I won't do the "free ram air" mod on my SS -- it renders the already *barely* functional hood scoop totally pointless.

Enough babbling about my definition of "rice." This isn't a flame, you asked for opinions.

lightbar is very cool looking. photos on 01 GT vert black in sig.
i'm doing a roll bar in 01 Cobra, but it won't look as nice but be more functional.

steve97Cobra,

how about some photos of the rollbar? i'm getting a roll bar in a few weeks and i want it padded and upholstered. I have talked to 6 car upholstery shops and none will do it. drop me email if not public.

thanks.

I dont think I would consider a lightbar rice (cause I have one ). They do server a purpose other than show. I'll agree they do not replace or act as a roll bar, but on a convertible they do offer a small amount of mid section body stiffening and they do accomodate a wind guard which serves a purpose also. Yes, they are more for looks. I still favor them.

DAMN!
TxSnakeCharmer, that car looks NICE. The clear windscreen just brings it all together! You *almost* have my mind changed about the lightbar.
