Thumbs up Installed Modified 96-98 4V Intake And IMRC Deletes Today!

Finally finished up the intake/deletes and got them on the car today. Here's a link to some details>>>

http://www.flash.net/~ivc1/cobra/manifold.html

So far, so good. Driveability is pretty much unaffected. Although, it took a little tuning with the EEC Tuner to get the cold start driveability back to where it was prior to the mods. Unfortunately, it's raining so I'll have to wait to do more tuning and try a few WOT runs. The short drive I did make, I immediately noted that it revs to 7K much quicker/freely. As best as I can tell, it pulls at least as hard as before below 3250 RPM. If it did lose some low end power, it's not much.

Hopefully, I get it dialed in SOTP this week and make it to the dyno Friday.

More later...back to the laptop to look at some Autotap data and make some EEC Tuner files to try tomorrow.

I'd be extremely interested in the EEC-Tuner changes you've made, other than the IMRC delete (which gets set to 0, correct?), as I'm planning to go to deletes myself.

DLF- Because I've removed the IMRC controller, I set the IMRC opening rpm to 8500. I've read that setting it to zero would result in a check engine light as the controller is deleted. I'll reply with more details once I evaluate some changes more thoroughly. Right now, I'm focusing on timing, manifold volume and some of the fuel-related parameters.

William - As I thought, it was a little bit of tip-in detonation. Yes, I've taken care of it.

G98Cobra - The deletes contribute to improved airflow.

Good info on the site. Need more information on how you did the shaft removal on the IMRC plates and how you went about expoxing -sp? the shaft holes up. Did you run expoxy throughout the shaft between cylinders, or just plug each side of the shaft hole? I'm thinking about doing a very similar thing to mine, and could use all the help that I can get. I'm running a KB, so I don't really need the IMRC plates.

I'll add some details on making the deletes and repost a link to my IMRC page. I should have it uploaded by mid-day tomorrow.

As promised, I've added additional details on converting the OEM plate assemblies to deletes.
