looks like it could share the same platform as the Aston Martin DB7, way to save money Ford just bring on the new modular v12.

Too retro and it still has the stupid fake side scoops only they're even bigger (worse).

I think it would be pretty bad ass if they got rid of the fake side scoops and made the front less bulky.

Damn, thats one helluva Photoshop job, or maybe it just the Coors Light.

Anyways, guys, REMEMBER..... ALL sketch pics show the cars with bigger wheels than they'll EVER wind up with!!!!. So don't fret, I'm sure the wheels will be tasteful..... as long as they don't look like the one's on the new Mach 1.

Hey man, whether its the Coors Light or not, I still think you did a pretty damn good job. The Cragars you stuck on it added even more to the retro look. In any case, I need to get to sleep. But I'm getting the munchies at 4:51 AM. Where's the chips???

Hey Guys, you have to remember that is a draw... is still a concept, just check some draws of our current cars and you will see, same shape, but is not EXACTLY.

My guess is that won't have those 20" rims and will be bad a$$..

The sides and rear look great, but the front end looks exaggerated - too wide. It needs to be narrowed just a bit. I wanna see a final version in the flesh before making any decisions about getting one.

uncertainties

I think it looks "ok"... I'm just not very excited about it. But then again, in '94 I hated the new SN95 body style also (I currently own a '94 GT)... then in '99 I "hated" the next new body style.. (I want one )

So, who knows.. by the time they come out, maybe I will feel like I just can't live without em..

I'm in the same boat as DerekGTO2, when I first saw the new 99 body style my stomach turned. But soon it grew on me and everytime I look at my car I think, "Damn, those are some sweet lines." Hopefully this we be the same thing, I just hope I don't like it so bad that I want get rid of my baby!

But that 5.0 290HP will be a hard thing to not want. Horsepower...

wow, love it.

since my coupe has outgrown it's use as a street car i had a dealer holding an '03 Cobra for me. i just called him and told him i'm out, gonna wait for '04. i figured the '03 Cobra was a neat combo, but the autoweek pic has convinced me to wait.

I dont like the looks of it. There have been enough retro cars lately. We need a little originality in auto designers today.
Dont get me wrong, I love the looks of my 01, I think it is a perfect balance between old and new eras. I just think that it is time for us to move on. Retro styling is a gimmic that will wear off soon enough and they just might over do it and ruin the car.

Cool, I see 69 Mach I and 68 Shelby GT500 influence (hood).

Hell I hit it.

First of all, that is nothing like the new 04 mustang.
Second of all, most drawing`s that are in the magazines are B.S. The reason why I know this is because I am currently working on the new design of the mustang. I can`t say anything about it right now, so unless a sketch is released from Ford, don`t believe it. The only drawing released from Ford are the Ford 500, which is pretty close to the design of that car. The Ford 500 is "supposed" to replace the taurus, but that is still up in the air. The 500 is going to be built in Chicago, but we will see about that.

MotorTrend did some a while back and they look nothing alike?

I guess it is just all hear say. The only thing that seems to be the same is the power plants.

I like it but it is a bit retro!

Unhappy

That Motor Trend drawing looks more like a Celica! Ick! And the blue retro-69-looking one looks more like a Mach than the new Machs do!

I guess we will all have to wait and see. But the more retro, the better I'll like it, personally.

I will bet anyone that the new 04/05 or whatever mustang will NOT look like that Blue one. All that picture is three mustangs blended together....two from the 60's (front and rear end) and 94+ top portion.

I bet I could start a link saying the new 2004 mustang will have a pushrod 5.0 and people would go crazy........gotta love it. hahaha

Seeing how Ford has gone heavily retro on Thunderbird, which is another Ford icon, I wouldn't be surprised if the next-gen Stang looked a lot like the blue one. Personally, I love it. It brings back the old Mustang magic, with a touch of modernization. I just hope it has the power to back up the cool look...

I personally like MotorTrend's rendition better. I'd be completely satisfied with a combination of the two. We NEED a minimum of 320HP and a beefier internal setup.

My 400RWHP '00 will finally be able to gain ~ 150HP and the '04 will be my daily driver and secondary project.

Now on a side noted, gas will be $2.25/gallon and it'll cost us all an arm and a leg to keep driving. So i guess I'll be getting a second job.

The Motor Trend pic is off, but the other one is more in reality of what we are designing. The blue one is a basic "theme" of what we are doing. But there are alot of things that have been added and taken away from it.

On a side note, just be ready when the car comes out.

I LOVE the drawing. If only they make it look like that. Count on the rims being smaller, but hopefully not too small, which is what usually happens. I also hope they don't smooth it too much, like they did with the new T bird. Not every car has to look like a blob, character lines are good. I've been saying for years that this is what car companies need to do to attract car buyers, and they're finally getting the message. How about a retro look 70 Cuda? 69 Camaro? The time is right, screw all the SUVs.

I saw the clay model about 9 months ago. I would imagine it has changed quite a bit since then, but I'm already saving my pennies. S197 is going to be the best Mustang ever, in all respects.

Any thoughts???

In the latest issue of MMFF they said Ford told them(or someone in Ford of course) That they will be using the Mod motors and not the 4.0 based motors for the 2004 mustangs. For whatever thats worth. Me personally, id rather not have a smaller displacement motor. I can see it now, the 2010 mustang will have a 2.0 DOHC

GT 350 neo-replica? Mach 1?

I am pissed. I spent a whole day drawing out and photoshopping mustangs trying to get my 99 GT into a GT350 track car replica look. Because the front end is so different, nothing worked out.

I was hoping at least to get a mach 1 look, but since the design is so different, without a sign you would never see a similarity in style with a GT350 or Mach I. Now they go and change it to look like late 60's.

Now I everybody is going to be running around in little copies of my idea. Bastards.

You feeling the pain of $1.50/gal too? Man, if it keeps going up, I'm gonna have to start driving the Camry to work. Ugh.

That pic looks like someone shallacked a 67 front onto a 99+ rear. The Motortrend rendition someone posted on this thread only shows the front. They also have a pic in that MT article of the rear and it looks badazz!

My 99 GT styling had to grow on me. I hated the fake cheesy side scoops. I hated the 17 in. rims -set inside what appeared to be wheel wells that could fit like a 24 inch rim...From the mirrors forward, it also looked like an economy car, but I grew into it and started to like it after a few weeks of ownership. I recently bought a new Bullitt hood scoop to make it look more aggressive in the front. -Even though it's fake too...

Wait and see. Some are gonna hate the new pony when they see it and come on these boards and say "I'm not buying that monstrosity!" -Yet, sales will go through the roof and guys will be on here in the first month bragging about how they got it only a $1000.00 over MSRP...
-Happens every time....
