15" rims w/drag radials

I want to put on 15 inch rims (to help with my weak 4.10 gearing) with nitto drags. What size rim will clear the brakes? i'm thinking some pep boy specials maybe. Also what drag radial size will fit these rims...remember i wanna keep the overall tire size smaller then stock.
thanks
Mikey

There are very few 15 inch rims that will clear the Cobras bigger brakes. I own a Bullitt which has the Cobras brakes. I recenty did alot of research finding a cheap rim "15" inch that would fit. The rims I bought is the American Racing Equip rims. The part # is ARE-767. Backspacing is 4.75. Tires are the BF goodrich drag radials and they hook. You can order the rims from Summitt. The cost was 83 bucks total price for both rims delivered to the door.

Hope this helps.

I am pretty sure the ARE rims will fit. I run them on my GT, but I thought the rear brakes on the GT and Cobra were the same.

You can get both the tires and rims from summit.

Also...You won't find any 15" DRs that are less overall diameter than stock tires.

I've seen some very good times with BFG 255X16 DR's on stock 16" wheels. They're about 26" tall, but no problem.

well the big reason i wanted a lower overall tire diameter was because i think i shift to 4th too close to the traps (damn 4.10's) and rather then spend another $400 for a gear swap i thought i'd just try some smaller wheels.
i'm not looking to get a 1.6 short time. a 1.9 would make me happy for now.

Well, that wasn't a good night. (at the track) I had not figured out the nitrous problems that I was having, and I wasn't concentrating on a n/a time. I would try to spray, and I would have problems. I only made a few passes and the tire/wheel setup wasn't as sticky as I had hoped so I was spinning pretty bad out of the hole. I almost burned my clutch up, the bolt came off my alternator pulley. It was just one of those overall bad nights at the track. I think that the best time I ever got was like a 8.70. I haven't been back since I got the nitrous working (Finally).

Slider GT is correct. The ARE wheels will fit perfect. I ran them on my car and had no issues at all.
