2007 GT500, pulley/CAI/tune

I bought this car last year from a Ford dealership, and the car already had a Steeda CAI and pulley. The problem is, it didn't come with the tuner. I didn't know if it was an oversight, and the 'tune' from the tuner (which I'm sure would have been an SCT3 from Steeda or one of their dealers) was still in the computer, or if some jerk sold a car back to a dealership, put the stock tune back in the computer, and kept the hand-held tuner.

Well, after hearing some detonation under normal driving conditions, I quickly figured out that i had too much boost without the necessary fuel to keep up. DYNO TIME!!!

I contacted my local tuner to get things sorted out. I had to pick up an SCT hand-held tuner, since the prior owner decided to keep his.

Tuner in hand, we hit the dyno. First pull, it showed just how bad off things were: 440/440'ish both hp/tq, and BADLY lean. That confirmed that the prior owner put the stock tune back into the computer, but left the hard-parts on the car! I mean, reallY?!!! An SCT3 is what, $300 or so? This person was going to cause some unsuspecting new owner of a $30+K car to blow the engine over $300?!!

Anyway, we got it tuned up, and with the Steeda pulley, CAI, and a proper tune, it gained almost 100 hp and tq! After just one dyno pull, it made 537 hp and 530 tq at the tire! I was stoked! An honest 530+ HP at the tire on a daily driver is more than I'd ever had, and I was giddy! I just wished I was a better videographer :P

That is great to hear ... glad you figured out the car was stock and you are now ready to feel the full potential of the aftermarket parts on the car!!

But in the end ... this post is useless without pictures ... lets see the ride!!

That sounds about right. I had the same problem, but I went back to the dealer and they got the tuner from the owner. It did still have the tune in it, so it was safe.
