Question for those that have rebuilt their T5's

Mine, was rebuilt just before I bought the car. Has prob. less than 2k miles on it. Bearings, races, synchro's all look new. How much, if any, can I reuse and or should I replace?

I've got a 2.95 gear set, steel input retainer, billet cluster support, billet 3/4 keys & bronze fork pads. Would it be that big a deal since everything else looks so good just to swap it over and send it?

Never rebuilt one of these before, so not sure. I've got it all torn down and going to start putting her back together soon as time allows.

Yes, just reuse what you don't have. Only issue might be pulling the two bearings off the countergear shaft. I'd just google the bearing part numbers stamped on the bearing, and buy another pair. All of the bearings are standard, readily available bearings that are used in many other things besides t5's.

Bearing on the input shaft might be another one you just need to buy vs trying to remove it from your original shaft.

If i bought a 2.95 gearset, or an astroperformance gear set, i'd do the same thing

EvilGooses likes this.

Cool. I have a 20 ton press in my garage, so I'm hoping I can do the bearing swap cleanly with that. We will see.
