Suspension experts in here

I replaced the shocks on my 2012 GT 6 months ago and about 2 months ago I started getting this metallic sounding pop when the wheel is turned to lock and am negotiating an abrupt transition like a steep drive way. My first thought was a sway bar end link so I disconnected the sway bar and it made no difference. I don't want to just start changing parts so do you guys have any diagnostic tips?

S197s we're bad about the bearings in the strut mounts going bad. Mine were replaced under warranty. GT500 mounts can be had for just over $100 and have higher durometer bushings.

Sounds like strut mounts by that description. Just did them in my '14 taurus and that's exactly what it sounded like

to me, it sounds like the bearings in the top of hat are bad.

Strut mounts are my thought as well so I think I'll give it a shot. $70 for OEM Motorcraft from Rock Auto is not a big gamble.
