1993 Cobra EEC

I run an ECM from a 93 Cobra in my Thunderbird and 24# injectors. If I want to go to 30# injectors, can I simply swap the injectors and use an aftermarket MAF for the 30's as if I was using an A9P or other ECM?

No. A calibrated MAF works by scaling its output by the ratio of the stock injectors the EEC was programmed for and the new larger injectors. On the non-cobras that ratio is 19/30. For your Cobra EEC the ratio is 24/30 so it will not work. I thought they made calibrated MAFS specifically for Cobras.

I have the matching Cobra Mass Air meter on my car with 24# injectors. Was thinking about going to 30's.

Maybe I misunderstood your question. You can use a calibrated MAF. Just make sure it is calibrated for 30# injectors AND a Cobra computer.

how much power are the 24# injectors good for?

Thanks for that graph. I appreciate that.

So if I bought 30# injectors, and a mass air meter for them, why wouldn't that work with the X3Z Cobra ECM ?

It is hard to find MAF's for the X3Z. There are a couple though. The bigger problem is that when you use calibrated mafs it really messes it the load percentages as the engine thinks it is under less load (if it went to bigger injectors). This will cause the computer to advance the timing more than normal for the rpm and load which can cause issues or at worst major damage. It is better to get a tuner like a Quarterhorse and input the new injector parameters into the stock tune and refine it from there.

Thanks for that information. I'll keep the X3Z and 24's at this time. I hope to dyno the car in the next couple of months after I install the new parts and see what the engine can do.
