Vortech 12:1 FMU showing 10:1

I have a 91 Mustang 5.0 with a Kenne Bell. I purchased the 4FG238-068 FMU and was told it comes standard with 12:1. At WOT I?m showing 10:1 with AEM wideband. The kit came with another disc which I havent got around to trying.

I put around 25 miles on the car and checked all the plugs which look fine. Im not sure what pumps in the car but I believe its stock. The injectors are 19lb. Shouldnt I be showing 12:1 consistently at WOT?

The ratio on a FMU refers to the amount it raises fuel pressure per pound of boost. It does NOT mean an air/fuel ratio. On a 12:1 FMU it will raise fuel pressure approximately 12lbs for each pound of boost.

Okay. I?m at 5lbs am I where I should be then? If I upped to 7lbs would it be safe to run on an FMU until tune?

Honestly, you need to get rid of that FMU and get bigger injectors and a tune.However,10:1 is rich you should be around 11:1-11.5:1 . Also make sure your timing is correct.

I plan to. This is a weekender (if that). All in time. Just wanted it safe to drive in the meantime.

Have fun tuning it... I am having nightmares as we speak... I have 30# injectors and a few other things and I can't even get the idle in... blower cars are a different breed
