Tune help

So took freshly built coupe in for chip tune on stock ecu. Was a little electrical issue, they fixed that them found out stock computer was fried. So the chip itself costs $250 and a new factory ecu is $250... I've considered the megasquirt plug and play and let them tune it at the speed shop.. There not a big price difference after buying new ecu and chip. Any recommendations? I just want to make safe power. Car will go to track occasionally but mainly weekend cruiser with cold AC. Car was originally built for YSI but just has s trim now. What's the best route to take?

The Megasquirt will give you much more room to grow without having to get your chip redone every time. The support community for tuning is great with quite a few members here as well as other sites. MSefi is a good one. You have potential to make big power, which IS doable on an A9 computer, I've seen 850+, but why not open up your potential for more. I'm currently running a PIMP system which is MS based. Sadly, I haven't had the time to put into the tune as I'm having other issues now. I love the ability to manipulate everything. I have more I/O's than I need, and learning about tuning is amazing. Hoping to get the gremlins worked out and get this thing running strong. Hopefully my Dart motor will be ready for transplant soon!

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. I'm certainly frustrated I'm ready to drive this car already. Since I need another a9l, and have to buy a chip, the plug and play is just 450 more. Seems like it may be the smart route.

Are you taking the car to Triangle or what? I don't know many houston shops that tune megasquirt cars.

Cool, Look around for a used unit and maybe you can score one for 5-600. update the thread after they tune it and let us know how it drives and what the tune looks like. also, you can usually find factory ECU's for 100-150 bucks around houston and corral. that'd make the factory ecu option a bit cheaper for you.

Thanks again for input, will do. I found used ones for $150, but didn't know if it would be better to do the freshly reman ecu for $250? Also I'm certainly in the dark on the tuning stuff. I did find a new used mega plug and play 2 for about $700. So that even gets cheaper. I don't care that much about saving a few dollars, really just want the smarter option whatever that is.

Finally got the car back, it runs very strong at wide open throttle. Runs horrible from the 1700-3000 rpm range... It is clearly loading up on fuel at this time and the car just bogs down.. Wishing I would've done the mega squirt plus/play 2 now.... Hopefully they get it doing now. Been a lot of trouble getting this thing tuned.
