Blaster TFI Coil - Primary Resistance higher than spec?

Would a higher primary resistance reading mean a bad coil?

I've got a MSD TFI Coil P/N 8227 with the following ohm ratings (based on cold coil, disconnect from car):
Primary: 1.7 ohms
Secondary: 4.6 ohms

MSD specs are:
Primary: 0.6 ohms
Secondary: 4.7 ohms

I can't find info about ratings being higher = bad coil. Talking to the local VatoZone rep, most bad coils they test shows no resistance (0 ohms).

I'm trying to eliminate the coil from possible reason i'm having issues.

why would a higher ohm value make it bad?

why even worry about the ohm value, its about the worst diagnostic test you could perform.

output voltage is all you should check.20KV+........ equals a good coil.

Its the idea of understanding what the values mean for future reference. But its all good, got my issues resolved.

the value you get will mean nothing unless you measure it at the exact temp, and even that really doesn't, as you could pull two exact brand new coils off the shelf, and the values will be different,

and throw in different meters, and its even worse.

I deal with coils of different functions on a daily basis, and an ohm test is rarely performed unless you are looking for an open.

MSN 8227 Blaster coil= JUNK.
Does your car start some times...or crank and crank and crank on not start...try starting again and start......or worse not start, or crank and crank and crank and kid of catch a bit and not start... bet its your MSD Blaster coil P/N 8227. Ask me how i know ..on my second MSD blaster coil BAD coil P/N 8227.

Put the stock coil in and see if your problems go away.
My fist MSD blaster coil P.N 8227 went bad in about 3000 miles and under a year's time.Summit replaced it under warranty with another just shy of a year. 2nd MSD blaster coil went bad again in about 3000 miles but took too 2 years to put on the miles on my f150. No replacement from Summit Racing.I called MSN.They said" Warranty only a year per MSD.They make poor quality coils. Don"t buy. I believe your problem is the coil.
Hope that helps .

test the coil, I doubt it is bad.

put batt + to + of coil then ground the - side quickly to a body ground. quick stabs to ground.

with a spark tester you will make spark out of that coil.
