Anybody know what this is??

......So I picked up a 90 lx a lil while ago, it's stock, had 10 holes on it, lowered, bbk cold air intake and flowmasters....that's it for mods. The po said it also had some performance chip( which I really didn't care about). Here is what I found in the glovebox? Trying to figure out who made it and if it's obsolete or useful? Wish it had a stock ecu....I think I should averag more than 16-17 mpg's stock? 60+% highway? Anyways, thanks for any help!

Almost looks like a power adapter for something else, perhaps something that burns chips. But that's just a wild-ass guess.

Is the DB25 male or female?

lets look at the facts

1> it says "PROGRAMMER" on it
2> it accepts a 9v battery
3> it has some kind of slot to secure something

its obviously not a j3 programmer for a ford chip, I don't see where the connection is made at the slot connection

I know this is completely off the wall but my first impression was that its a gas meter programmer to update the firmware and/or recalibrate industrial gas meters for co, so2, h2s, o2, benzene, etc...

How would that board program anything? There's only 1 connector and no buttons like on a handheld. Pretty sure "programmer" on the silkscreen by the db25 tells us what plugs in there, not what this is.

What ECU does it have?
MPG is bad, what is rear gear ratio? Stock 5 spd was 2.73, suspect yours' is different.

Garage
Almost reminds me of the guts of old Hypertech programmer I took apart once but I don't see any chips I remember it having.

BTW, if you want a stock ecm, just look and see if there is even a chip in the J3 port (assuming it's a Ford EEC)
