SCT Eliminator Chip Questions

I just purchased an SCT Eliminator chip for my 93 Turbo car. I haven't ran it yet plan on its first start up in the next week or so. I got the chip with three tunes on it already.

The question I have is this. Can I program the chip myself, or make small adjustments to it myself, if I purchase the correct cable and software and what not that I would need. I have been searching the internet and cannot find the items I need. Is it that secret squirrel that those items arnt listed? I have a wideband and I was just going to tweak fuel or timing if needed and that's it. I don't want to have to mess with mailing this chip off for everything I need.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

To program the chip yourself, you need to purchase SCT's Pro Racer Package software and the Chipper which is the chip burner. You have to get it from an authorized SCT dealer and it's not cheap. Also, with the SCT software, there is no way to read the tunes that are already on the chip. You would need to get copies of the tunes from the tuner that made them and they may or may not be willing to do that.
Or you could purchase Binary Editor (software) and a Moates Jaybird (chip burner) and you could read what is on the chip now and make adjustments. Also, I would recommend getting a Moates Quarterhorse to take the place of the chip. It provides datalogging capabilities and you don't have to unplug it from the EEC everytime you want to make a change to your tune.

Paulie thank you for replying. I guess I am on the fence about using the SCT chip or trying stand alone like the Moates or the MegaSquirt PIP. I do not have a dyno close by and really want to be able to make adjustments if I need to and not be locked into having to take the car somewhere. I got the SCT chip with some start up tunes on it from Murillo Motorsports in San Antonio which is a 6 hour drive from me. I doubt he would email me the tune files though.

You can read and write to the SCT chip with Binary Editor and a Moates F3.

I would suggest a quarterhorse though. Datalogging is a priceless tool.

How much of a learning curve is there and how would I go about getting a start up tune I have no idea how to set it up just to start it.
