If you was starting from scratch, which would you use?

I literally mean from sratch....Motor and car are as bare as they come in terms of any EFI to plug into being in place. I have a 6AL ignition box and thats about it...

357w, 10.62:1, Hyd. roller custom grind, 5 speed, 3:72 gears...Just a fun street car that I want to be reliable and fun to drive. Doesnt have to set any records, or make insane power.

I was in the situation you describe with my 393w. I got the car as a project with the longblock assembled but never run. After chasing down all the missing pieces and installing the engine in the car I spent a couple of weeks figuring out what all my EFI options were and settled on megasquirt.

MS is the only computer the engine has ever run on and I can say I have no regrets and now being on the other side of the choice, I would choose MS again.

What did you use for all the different harness' for things such as the MAF, injectors and computer?

Megasquirt can use a MAF but it is not necessary and I chose not to use one. My install runs in Speed Density mode using a MAP sensor to read engine vacuum/boost (however I am not boosted).

I am using the factory engine harness, which gives me coolant temp, air temp, injectors, TPS, high and low speed fans, wiring to the TFI module and coil, and factory oxygen sensors.

If you're willing to spend a little more money, DIYAutotune.com sells adapter harnesses to make connecting Megasquirt to the factory harness an easy plug-in process.

Even easier yet (and more money too), they sell a plug-and-play version of Megasquirt that plugs in to the factory harness just like the factory computer does. I think their PNP setup has the same physical dimensions as the factory computer too.

Of course if you wanted you could pull out the factory harness and wire everything yourself.

I'm in the same boat and I'm going MS.

diyautotune.com also has a harnass adaptor like this:

Megasquirt V3.0/3.57 to Ford Mustang 5.0 Adapter Cable DIYAutoTune.com

They have it for SN95 5.0 and MS2 configurations. That is most likely how I'm going, using a stock harnass I have and going with the adaptor. That, or I'll go with the relay board and just cut the stock harnass plug off and use the relay board.

MegaSquirt Relay Board - Assembled Unit DIYAutoTune.com

That way I can avoid making my own set of relays for the fuel pump and stuff. See, my car really is a blank slate for EFI since it's a 65 mustang.

Mine might as well be a blank slate...All the EFI stuff is cut out of it, its bare bones on the wiring to a simple fuse box for the headlight switch, ignition, fuel pump, lighting, and fan switch.

I think im venturing out of my skill set for this though...Been pricing out fox EFI harness stuff and its pretty cheap, but there are a couple different versions not too mention I dont know if im buying a junk harness or not.

Not sure if you mean megasquirt versions or engine harness versions. If you mean MS here is some info to help sort out what is what. Megasquirt Identification - What Megasquirt do I have?

If you're worried about harnesses, I can vouch for the ones that diyautotune sells. It's quality stuff. You'll need to run the wires to the sensors and injectors and things yourself but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
