Will this set up benefit from a tune?
98 cobra, stock ECU. Stock mass air. 03-04 Mach 1 motor with forged flat top pistons for 11.2:1 comp and stock heads and intake. 98 cobra intake cams and stock Mach ex cams. Long tube headers, and a non catted x pipe. This car is a dedicated road race car.
I just got the car dynoed. It made 316 hp. I was expecting 330 hp. I went from a march u/d damper to an ATI standard dia damper. I can assume that the damper is chewing up around 8-10 hp. My budget has been wiped out because of this engine build and some home projects.
I'd like to eliminate various parameters in the ECU such as all the emissions, imrc and all other parameters thstdo not pertain to the engine running atnwide open throttle.
There's a shop in NJ that will tune the car for $550. The guy running the dyno said he knows a guy who tunes mustangs. This guy has tuned several 03 cobra, turbo cars and a kenne bell cobra. Im thinking he will be noticeably cheaper than thenshop in NJ as he is doing thisnon the side.
I'm questioning whether or not it's worth the money to have him do it. Is it possible for me to gain AT LEAST a solid 12-15 hp?
