i hate wires

hopefully someone can help me out with this issue.

first off i have a '92 5.0 lx vert.

i need to know how many wires are supposed to be mounted on the alternator side post of the starter motor relay--and what they are for. when i purchased my mustang a few years back i noticed that there was a lot of stuff going on there and i have no idea what goes where because of the wiring harness coverings. at anyrate i have been having some electrical problems as of late and i burned up a few of those switches.

another issue im having is what should i do with the negative battery cable. i relocated my battery to my trunk and grounded it in there. but i am still left with the original battery terminal and wire---should i just remove it. the guy at the ford dealer said that i need it to ground the block. i didnt understand what he was saying because i figured that if my battery was grounded everything else associated with the battery would be fine also.

if anyone could help me out with either of these issues it would be greatly appreciated.
