Unhappy slam door to start cobra

My cousin recently had his 96 Cobra broken into. They used a slim-jim on the door and did something to the ignition. The steering column has been completely rebuilt, but the door lock is still messed up. Anyways, quite often the car won't start until he rolls down the window and slams the door. Is there a switch in there that could be loose or what? Or is he just shaking the whole car so much that a ground makes contact somewhere else? If you have any suggestions please help. Thank you.

sounds like the key and tumbler might still be messed up or the ignition switch has loose wires. The window or door should have nothing to do with the car starting unless they spliced into the window switch wiring for the ignition switch. Take the bottom steering column cover off and find out what the hell they did.
