Salt and pepper shaker plugs

Can the plugs be eliminated and the wires simply soldered together or will that cause issues? Just curious. I was looking at how ugly they are and thought Id investigate.

There is a thread on deleting them. Problems can go away by deleting them.

I need to read the write ups on deleting them today. I was thinking that by soldering them together and eliminating the plugs, I would also eliminate any possible plus issues with loose or dirty pins and clean it up a bit under the hood.

That was my thought with no education on it, so I was NOT going to jump into it without learning a bit more.
