AEM Wideband went bad?

I’ve had this AEM in my car for a little less than a year. I had a surging idle issue a couple of days ago I resolved. However, in the middle of things the wideband lost its mind bouncing from rich to lean until it finally pegged (————).

I tested a few things out. With key on and sensor disconnected from the 02 clip it was showing 14.8 and had .10 DVC to the white wire. I think this means the unit itself might be bad.

Anyone know how to properly test one of these? Or should I just buy a new kit and go with a plx this time?

i c/p from looking in less than 1 minute from AEM forums this test;

pull the sensor out of the exhaust stream. Key on engine off,
what does the gauge read? (it should read full lean ---)

Next get a rag, spray the rag with a bit of brake cleaner. Then cover the
sensor with the rag, what does the gauge read? (It should read full rich
8-10.0)

If the gauge does not indicate as expected the problem is likely
with the wideband sensor itself. If the gauge does indicate as expected the
problem may be related to your exhaust or the placement of the sensor.

have you looked through their forums?

Yes but everything I found was conflicting. The test I ran on the gage itself was from the form. But I found two different threads stating two different readings. I’ll try this test as well. Planning on contacting AEM directly tomorrow for specifics.

Full rich 5volts

Full lean 0 volts

Well it read lean when I pulled the sensor and covered it with a rag with brake clean. So I’ll see what happens when I pick up a new one.

sounds like the sensor has failed

now, you should consider why it has failed in such a short period of time

cause dollars to doughnuts just replacing it, will have the same outcome.
