Upgraded Autometer Gauges with LED bulbs

Upgraded my Autometer Sport Comp gauges with LED bulbs a few weeks ago and after blowing a fuse due to a short, I replaced the fuse and now the gauges stay lit even with the headlights off. I also had to replace my dimmer switch, as the spring on the dimmer wheel fell apart when I removed it. What should I look into? My electrical skills are limited, so bare with me please. Thanks
