courtesy lights

92 mustang coupe, courtesy lights don't work by opening the doors, but work if you push the overhead switches. Also should the courtesy lights come on by using the dimmer switch?

I'm assuming the door switches ground when the door is open. I'll keep looking for a good diagram.
