MSD 6al wonít start 1994 gt

So I have a msd 6al mounted in my trunk, iíve had it running quite a few times before I installed my super charger and after with no issues, but all of a sudden the car wonít start. Iíve bypassed it and started it on the stock ignition and it fired right up. Iíve also replaced the harness connector to the coil (with one I had laying around from a previous setup) since the one I had on there was looking a bit weathered, still didnít help. Iíve checked the main power heavy red wire and itís got power in the trunk. Iíve also checked the small red and orange wire in the engine bay and the trunk with the ignition on, they both show power.

Is there anything else I should be checking or is my box just bad? Itís not a big deal to replace it, I just hate to spend the money if I donít have to. Like I said itís mounted in my trunk so is there anything else that could be shorting out? Any help would be appreciated.

to make spark you need a ground

is the box providing a switching ground, so fast that you need a scope to see it??

I donít know what you mean? The negative wire is connected directly to the negative battery terminal. Is there a way to check it?

Thanks for your informative answer. Does anyone else have any suggestions of what I can check?

do you know how spark is made, yes or no?

the type of test is predicated on that, as you obviously dont seem to understand what i am suggesting

your comment of having the negative wire go to battery negative post seems a little obvious no?

have you grounded coil neg rapidly to see if spark can be made?

Pretty typical with his responses. I had this same issue a few years ago and just swapped it out for a new unit and worked fine.

While Indy may seem a bit harsh , he is trying to teach you how to properly determine what is wrong , and properly trouble shoot the problem .
You must know how a component works , before you can diagnose the component .
Once you have that knowledge, you can properly determine if In fact that component is the problem , or the supporting system .
Notice i said PROPERLY SEVERAL TIMES , for a reason .

if that is your extent of tech support, swap parts, then so be it, no harm

no one will judge you any less.....

I'm pretty sure it's a bad ground somewhere, I just need to pull everything apart and try to find where. It's just a bitch to do on my car since I have everything tucked away under the car. I guess it gives me an excuse to drink in my garage this weekend.
