Anyone know where this connector goes?

I have a 1993 Mustang lx 5.0 coupe. Found this connector above the steering column, looks similar to the airbag connector but it is not the airbag connector (airbag is currently plugged in to proper connector).
everything on the dash works so I am assuming this goes to something else that did not come in the car? There is a fairly stiff fabric covering the wires).
anyone know whaere this goes or did Ford just put extra connectors in so they didn't have to have too many different harnesses?

Ok, figured it was something not specific to this car as I have a 5 speed manual but wanted to be sure. Thanks as always
