Alternator rebuilding?

My 03 2v OEM alternator is on it's way out. has 31k on it but is 14yr old. was having noise coming thru the speakers. I unplugged the alternator and the noise stopped so i know it that was the source of the whirling noise coming thru the speakers. Does that mean the diodes took a crap? 20yrs ago i rebuilt an alternator in auto electronic class, but i don' remember too much from it. Where can i find a rebuild kit and which pieces should be replaced? Can i up the amps?

If you don't mind sending it somewhere, Harvey Brothers in Galesburg IL will rebuild it. They are absolutely awesome. On anything automotive, farm or electrical related it goes to them.
