What is this thing by the coil? 1994 Cobra

I am putting a crane HI6 ignition and LX92 coil on my 94 cobra. On the back side of the coil bracket, there is a thing that looks like a condensor out of a old points distributor screwed to it. It has 1 wire coming out of it and it goes to the harness that feeds the coil etc. I called Crane Tech and he didn't seem to know what it is. I don't know if it has something to do with the original ignition, or coil. Should I just ignore it and put the Crane Coil etc. on and just leave it there. I just don't want it to screw something up with my new ignition. Do you know what this thing is or does?

Its a interference suppressor thing. Basically all it does is keep your radio from recieving interference from the electrical system, resulting in picking up static.

It's a radio ignition interference capacitor.

I left mine off. No whine in the stereo.

What ever, it really only affects the AM radio anyway. Mine sounds like an audible tach! I did the exact ignition upgrade and love it BTW.
