Need help

I have a 87 gt I just put ford racing aluminum heads and a lunati cam and gt40 upper and lower intake on and now when I turn it over it will crank good for a second and then kinda freeze up and the negative battery cable will start smoking I haven't got it to fire yet any ideas

if you perform a voltage drop test on the power and ground of the starter, starter ground is the housing, and it is good,

something in the motor is seizing


89 GT gr-40, KB2200(10psi), tweecer R/T,LC-1, 22gal cell, w/tailpipes.

Did you check valve clearance? maybe dist out 180?
try turning the engine over by hand, hopefully you already did this. HTH
and yes check the cables
