Sn95 Distributor on Foxbody 302

Ive been searching and searching and can't seem to come up with a solid answer. Ive heard you can swap between the two and others say you can not do it.

I have a fox body 5.0 swapped into a 1990 Mazda RX7 and I am running into clearance issues with the MSD distributor I have on the motor currently. After browsing for awhile I have realized that the SN95 distributor sits much lower due to the TFI not being mounted directed below the cap.

Is it possible to just swap between the two distributors or would something else need to be done? It seems that I would need the harness along with the distributor so that I can remote mount the TFI somewhere else like the wheel well?

Does anyone here have any information on what I can do or if its even possible to swap these?

Thanks in advance
Jon

I've been considering this too. Assuming EFI at minimum you would need to remote mount the TFI. However, remote TFI mount kits are available for the Fox style distributor. While I'm not positive, if you've already remote mounted the stock TFI (or use the sn95 remote harness), it seems thereafter using the sn95 distributor would work.

I think you could swap the distributors but if your using a Fox ECU be sure to use a Fox ignition module/TFI. The 94-95 are CCD modules which means the ECU controls the dwell. Factory the Fox ones are gray and the SN95 ones are black but don't just go by the color. I've heard some stories about aftermarket ones being either or with the color.

I purchased a distributor from a member in here that he remoted the tfi module. It's for a fox. I'm not going to use it. If your interested I'd sell it. Pm me if interested.
