Can the low speed fan die, but the high speed fan work?

I don't hear or see the low speed fan working. However, when I turn on the AC the high speed fan works. The high speed fan also will kick on w/o the AC on for about 30s. When it shuts off, the car is still hot. So, I know there is only one motor on the fan and that leads me to believe there is a low speed fan problem.

Where should I look for the relay or whatever?

Pete

I don't know where to find relay. I got a painless thermostatic relay from Summit and wired it so that the high speed comes on at 195 and off at 80. Easy to hook up, but you also need a splitter so that you can use sending unit to temp gauge and sending unit to relay from same manifold threaded hole. Match up sending unit that comes w/kit, not larger brass fitting. Or- see old posts in tech or one of the info archives on corral for adirect wire or switchable wire article. My temp gauge now doesn't go above the m. Good luck.

Does this mod bypass the high speed relay? I heard that if you wire the fan on all the time with the stock relay in place, you will burn it out?

Thanks,

Pete
