1. Mount the Tach and run the wires down into the dash.

2. Connect the Red wire to a switched 12V + source

3. Connect the black wire to ground

4. Connect the Illumination wire (Usually blue or yellow) to the light blue w/ red stripe on the back of the instrument cluster or many other places in the dash. (Like at the back of the radio or the back of the A/C panel)

5. Connect the Green wire to the tan wire with the yellow stripe on the back of the instrument cluster.

Piece of cake. less than an hour.

Good Luck

I mounted mine like this. I think it's a good place to put it. TobyGaff is right on about the wiring. I tapped into the instrument cluster for the tach and illumination wires.

I actually mounted mine on the other side. The possiblilities are endless.

When I installed the one for a buddy of mine, I actually mounted it to the dash, and put a grommet down through the top of the dash like this.

not trying to attack, but what in the world do you need a 5inch tach for when you got one in the dash. i understand that there more on, but couldnt you just get a light??? i thought monster tachs were for ricers. however, im sure your cars are all faster than mine, so its all good. im just wondering. take care

An aftermarket tach is far more accurate. My factory tach was off by almost 250 rpm. (I have since recallibrated it.) The factory tach is pretty much just a ballpark.

I have since found an error and edited my earlier post with the wiring instructions. Be sure to re-read it.

Toby, How did you re-calibrate the stock tach?

On the newer cars, you can adjust the tach as outlined here:

https://www.corral.net/tech/interior/tachadj.html

On the older cars you have to actually pull the needle off and move it up or down until it matches an accurate tach...

TobyGaff. I was looking at your website. First of all let me say your car is AWSOME ! I have a question. Where did you get those seats at and how much? Is the whole seat covered in black vinyl? I've seen those seats in black vinyl on a website for $670/pair. Is this more than you paid? thanks.

Thanks man. Well, I paid a little more than that. I am not sure where you saw that at, but you may want to make sure that price is for the vinyl seats. The cloth ones usually sell for about that price. I got mine from GPlus Performance (gplusperformance.com) and I paid about $915 with brackets and shipping and it was the best price that I could find anywhere.(by about $300)
