testing for continuity, oil press wire at gauge???

my 88 has a non working oil press gauge. to check wiring i grounded the wire and it should have pegged but it didnt so it must have a break somewhere.

i checked the wire for breaks under the hood and the wire was broken at the valve cover so i reconnected it but still no worky so it must have another break somewhere.

pulled the cluster and checked the whole plug and 4 wires are positive for continuity.......??

does one wire control the gauge or is it broken up into multiples from the ecu to cluster?

EDIT:

got an alldata print out and it says only 1 wire controls the gauge. the white w/red stripe. so i have the dash all torn apart, center console and all that but can't find anything that looks like its messed up/tapped in/grounded or anything.......yet.
the only thing i can think is to find out which side of the firewall it comes through and remove the stock tape and wire loom from there to the cluster plug??

thank you for that link. its helpful but i was hoping someone had taken a harness out of the car before and could tell me where that wire routes exactly.

im not taking anything else apart, that would ensue the dash being removed the harness tore apart to find this thing and im not doing that

its part of the engine harness, the connects to dash harness.

you have two plugs by the left strut tower that connects the dash to engine harness.

i disassembled the engine harness right after posting yesterday. traced the wire from the sender all the way to where it enters the fire wall and it was good no breaks and had continuity. unless i pulled the dash and column i couldnt get to the harness from the firewall to the fuse box to check that area. i worked and worked and finally got fed up with it and just put everything back together.

i hate leaving it not working but it was just giving me to much frustration

You need to load test the wire, it will tell you if the wire is good. It can have continuity but have bad spot in wire. Use a headlamp bulb to load test.
