Weird issue on 93 2.3 Hatch. Door locks wont work and radio stays on when ign off.

Ok. The 93 LX 2,3 Hatch I bought for my son has this weird electrical issue. Power door locks do not work all the time. When they don't work the radio will stay on even after turning off ign. Have to manually shut it off or just pop the faceplate. Then it will switch. The radio will shut off when ign. is turned off and the power looks will then work. WTF? any ideas?

Check if the ignition switch is up tight against the steering column. If it's loose at all zip tie it up tight. Hell I'd zip tie it tight even if it doesn't seem loose.

The ignition switch is a long rectangle with 2 halves, a top and a bottom. The top half is metal and contains the sliding switch. The bottom half is plastic and contains the contacts that the switch needs to touch and the socket that the harness plugs in to. These 2 pieces fit together by friction only. If they get loose you can have some issues where the sliding part won't touch the contacts properly and so it won't work properly. If you zip tie the whole thing up tight to the column, these 2 halves will stay firmly together.

The whole ignition switch itself is separate from the key cylinder, which is what you put your key in to. The key cylinder is just the device that transfers your twisting of the key, in to pushing and pulling the sliding switch inside the ignition switch block.
