fuel level sender ground

my fuel gauge on my 89 gt is past full doesnt move at ALL..i already changed my fuel level sender unit and saw on a thread that the ground might be bad. i havent checked with a voltmeter yet but was wondering where the ground for the sender is located..thanks for any help

Shop manual just says the ground is near the LH Backup Lamp.
