msd 2-step issues

i bought the msd 2-step for my lightning and wired it in to activate with my 3rd brake light via a switch to turn it on and off when i'm not at the track. i tried it out today, and it activates without my foot being on the brake at the set limit and deactivates when my foot is on the brake.

i have the rocker switch wired with a hot wire, the 2-step and the 3rd brake light power wire. could it be the hot wire messing it up?
