When I did my '90 from EFI to carb, I went online to eBay and found the 1990 Ford Mustang Electrical and Vacuum Trouble-Shooting manual, and bought it. Since I own and '84 5.0L that's factory carb'd, I went online to eBay and also purchased Ford's 1984 EVT Manual.

Then I sat down and started comparing wiring harneses. Didn't take long and I then rewired my 1990 for carb with external mounted electricl fuel pump, factory a/c, etc. It was not hard to figure out. However, without those two year specific Ford Manuals it would have taken me a very long time and I'd probably botched it.

The manuals are usually pretty cheap. That'd be my suggestion - at least get a 1989 Ford EVT Manual so you know what you're looking at.

I used the #18 wire from the fuse box in my 1990 to run my electic fuel pump.
