Question Instrument Cluster wiring question - 12V input

I'm re-rewiring my dash. Last year I pulled the stock clusted and installed an MC Machine & Autometer setup, at the time I just did what was needed to get everythign working. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've had the dah apart so now I want to re-wire the cluster <the right way>.

Looking at the plugs from the electrical diagram book

I see 12V input (C250) on pins 4 & 7 and on the othert plug (C251) I see Ignition Switch on pin2 & 12V input on pin 7

My question is about the 12V inputs, are these safe to use for lighting as a switched source?

My Current setup I have all of the 12V inputs connected to the Ignition Switch (pin2).

Thanx

You should be fine using those connections. C251-2 comes right off of the ignition switch. The other connections come off of fuse 18 and were originally used for the gauges.

Have you considered C251-11 and C250-13 which were originally used for instrument illumination and are controlled by the panel dim switch?

yep, did that... I was making sure that the other 12v inputs could be used as switched 12v sources... They work fine I'll post images tomorrow.
