wiring electric waterpump, do I need relay?

Do I need a relay to wire my meziere water pump in, or can I just wire the + side to key on power and ground the negative side? I hate wiring and Ive done soo much of it lately, and the last thing I want to do is have more wires running in the engine bay(just did wire tuck and cleaned it up good). Whats the advantage for running the relay anyway? The guy at meziere said nothing about needing the extra relay harness. It is a street driven car but I figured Id be fine with running it to key on power.

I am using a relay but I re-did the whole wiring but the water pumps only takes like 11 amps pretty low amps but personally I would use one . I also hate wiring so I know how you feel but once done its done .

yes, i would. i relay the fans, fuel pump, and water pump (not running a CSR right now but have the wiring in place for when i put it back on). if anything, saves you from having to run giant switches rated high enough and gives you the ability to run a variety of switches.

i had a switch literally blow up on me while driving (fuel pump). was wired directly from the battery to the switch, then to the pump. twas a small switch.

Definitely use a relay! Keep the high current out of your switches...they last longer.
