Connectors on alt. Are bad?

Has this happen to anyone? I think, I'm sure the harness has a bad connection. Where or what can I do to make the contacts work better. Where can I buy a new harness?

the alternator harness/plug on my sons 87 gt caught fire one night. Sent him to the pick a part and he cut the alternator harness off an early 90's 5.0 T bird and soldered em on his car replaced the alternator with one from Autozone. No problems since.

If the alternator is the same then the wiring harness plugs should be the same. I'd cut them about 4-6" back from the alternator and then solder/heat shrink them to your stangs harness.
