Check the ect for proper function, it sound like it may be bad and the pcm is defaulting to protect the engine when you unplug it! Disconnect the ect and test the sender with a DVM. It should read like 2200-2700 ohms at 70 deg. and 290-350 ohms at 175 deg., if you get no reading then its probably the culprit! LMK if this helped!
