My first 11....(Waited 6 years to post this)

Well, talk about your anti-climactic moments...

Lets just say the gods of not letting my 10 sec motor ever go 11's did not take the night off. Started about 30 minutes before we get to Atco. We here a clicking sound as we roll to a stop light, get out, quick check. All of the lugnuts holding the weld wheel to the brand new 31 spline moser axle had backed off a bit, causing the axle studs to oval up the rim, not to mention oval up there holes in the axle (we think).

Fix that (sorta) and drive on. Get to the track 40 minutes late. Then we get the first pass. 12.0 @ 119, 1.85 60 foot. OK I say, we'll definetly get it down to 11.60's by the end of the night. Big mistake. The crack staff at Atco took what was a realitively easy slow night and made it into a 3 hour between passes night. I am done with the crackhead staff they got there.

Next pass 3 hours later was this:

All runs made on the 275 BFG Dr's.

Basically got very little tuning, but did manage to get the plugs a pretty brown tan color. I feel confident the tune is correct now. Although, the primary side may be over jetted, car is still slow throught the 1/8th. Time to just get rid of this bog off the line that I only get at the track, and get her in the Mid 11's. C4 goes in next month, so hopefully I can catch a nice day at Cecil to play before then.

I kinda wish I was staying stick through the end of the summer. 4.30's would really help this car, especially since I want to bump my shift point to 7200 from the 7000 this slip was shifted at. Even at 7000 the 4.10's must act like 3.55's.

Congrats on your time. Get the 60' down and you should see a better ET, that 11.7 or 11.6 you want!
119mph should be good for mid 11's in my opinion. Obviously I am not one to practice what I preach though via my ET vs mph.
BTW how much does your car weigh?

119 MPH should get you better ET's than that. My car runs 11.9's with 1.8X 60's on nitto's. It will be 11.4/11.5 with slicks (hopefully).

Is your car under-geared? Are you going through the traps at 4000 RPM or something?

Re: My first 11....(Waited 6 years to post this)

I looked at your webpage and saw that we had "similar" combos. I'm running a 351 W instead of a 347. You can see my combo at the bottom. I'm running EFI and a coverted Victor Jr. Intake (you have a carb).

I had a bog I couldn't shake either. I either spunn like hell or had a killer bog. I solved it by swapping my 3.70 gears for 4.33's. If you go to a C-4 you might need even more gear. I hear that people typically loose 1-2 MPH, but pick up .2-.3 seconds after a C-4 swap.

BTW, after I put in the 4.33's I pulled a 1.58 60' at my local 1/8th mile track with a super slick surface. I'm hoping to pull off low 1.5X's at Houston Raceway Park.

Thanks 351. I don't think the bog is the result of the tune, it's crossed my mind about the 4.10's being the culprit.

The car will have a c-4 and a 150 shot, so unfortunately they have to stay for now. I would love to throw in 4.30's, jet down the primary, and let this ***** rip. Go tubular on the front suspension probably wouldn't hurt either.

Alas, Rome wasn't built in a day... :-)

Congrats BigMike
I am almost in the same boat.

I't trying to get into the 11s on 17" street tires or 17" DRs.

What size 275s were you running? 15" or 17"?

Hope to be with ya soon.

Congrats!! Do you have jet extensions on the secondary side? Bog could be the jets temporarily uncovering.

120mph will go 10s if you can drive/hook.

There is alot more left in that combo IMHO.

Thanks Ian. I know that as do 99% of the people who appreciate all motor power. I am gonna give Swine the benefit of the doubt, because I didn't have the 347 kit listed in the sig.

Car was run on drag radials, granny shifted cause of the stock t-5, and the tune is fat.

Take out some weight, more tuning, switch to the C-4 in my garage with a 3800 stall, and throw on the backup slicks, and the car should be in the 10.80 range around 122-123 mph.

As the car sits right now, I know with tuning it would have gone 11.6-7's on the DR's, and 11.3's on the slicks. So much for benchracing i guess, gonna get back asap on the T-5.
