As mentioned it depends on teh car. Plsu the rim it's on will dictate mods as well. I rolled my outer lips ad did a thorough beating of my inner tubs to clearn my 28x10.50's on a 10" Weld with 6.5" BS.
Also measure clearances to the body infornt and to the rear of the tire. My car had the rear located further forward in the wheel opening which meant when the tire grew it rubbed the lower rocker panel/quarter panel. Striped both slicks at anything past ~120mph. @ solutions, eitehr trim away the body for clearance or move the rear back to center it up. I used adjustablelength arms to move mien back to center it up. Now I have plenty of clearance even when the tire grows.
Not all cars need it though. There are just as many that fit and don't rub at speed as there are that rub. I was just unlucky enough to be a "rubber".
