363 set up change

i am looking on changing my setup later this year i have a 363 12.38 comp with box intake. Trickflow is saying the 205cc would be better than the 225cc due to 225 killing my low end power and torque. i have a glide with a 8 inch converter and 4.56 gear to rev quick.also was thinking of going solid cam at that time. i know i need to be around 7k to make intake work. what does everyone think is better this is track only no street miles car.

also this is nitrous car with a 200 right now and also cant use any 11r due to piston angle

Get the AFR 220 Renagade heads. I have no idea why Trick Fkow would say the smaller head is better. They need to put the crack pipe down.

If you have a wedge piston of course you can use the 11R head. The 11R will have even more piston to valve clearance than you have now due to the 11 and 13 degree valve angle versus the 15 and 17 degree you have now. When you say 225, I assume you mean an old style R wedge head.

Yea the 225 r heads trickflow told me I Could run the 11r heads would just have to keep lift down due to pistons for the other heads but I called diamond and they told me I would have to stay with the 15 deg angle or it would hit and I couldnít use the 11r so Iím kinda stuck he said they do make pistons for the 11r but are custom and as long as I donít go bigger than 2.08 valve trickflow told me the 11r head would make more power than the reg r head thatís why I was looking at them

And trickflow told me they donít Recommend a 225 on anything under a 427ci but they have a dyno with a 408 and 225r head on their website so who knows Iím just trying to use the best head I can with a 4.125 bore

Think about your operating range, you say strip only. When they told you will sacrifice bottom end, I bet they were talking about from idle to 2000/3000 rpm. You'll be screaming between 3000 - 7000 rpm 98% of time on track so I say your average HP will benefit from bigger head in your case. Bigger is not always better but in your case it is. 225cc on a strip only 363 is not too big.

I'm fast. I make five mistakes while you think.

Here's the specs for the 363 I'm putting together. I have all the parts... just waiting for the current 306 to either wear out or blow up. lol

4.125" bore Dart Sportsman block
3.40" stroke Scat crank, zero balanced (I took a drill, and drilled the throws out all the way through)
Oliver Billet Rods
Mahle flat top pistons. 11:1
TEA 225cc CNC Ported Trick Flow High Ports
Crower Shaft Rockers
Bullet 249/258 @ 0.050" with 0.700" intake lift and 0.690" exhaust. LSA is 110ļ
Super Victor Intake Ported by Mike Curcio M.C.R.P | Mike Curcio Race Products
Holley 950HP carb
1-3/4" headers w/3" exhaust
200hp nitrous plate

Car's current best with the flat tappet TW 170 headed (pump gas when n/a) 306 on a 200hp plate is 6.29 @ 109 / 9.88 @ 135.6 The 363 will be the first higher dollar engine the car has ever had, but will still be a pump gas street car.

Mike Burch
66 mustang real street
Pump Gas 302, 4-speed
9.88 @ 135.6 3300lbs w/driver
