NA stock shortblock challange 2v vs. 5.0 pushrod

We are putting together a NA stock short block challenge.

The rules are pretty simple, you must have a 100% stock bottom end 5.0 pushrod or 4.6 2v. That means everything down to the hardware, and obviously no power adders.

Anything else goes. Any HCI, any weight, any gear, tire, transÖ All up to you.

We would love to get as many people to participate as possible. I am going to keep the standings updated daily throughout the year. This is not just a top 10 deal, I will keep track of 1 to 1000 if need be, so I encourage cars of all ETs to join in.

I created a facebook group linked below for those who are interested to join. Once you join please see the first post and write up something similar about your car.

Even if you do not wish to participate feel free to join and follow along. Hope to use the group as a forum to bounce ideas around about setups, track everybodyís progress etc.

The challenge will go throughout the entire year. We will require a picture of a time slip before your time is added to the list. Time slip must also be dated 2018.

Please share with anybody who might be interested.

I know there was a few threads back in the day ranking, but wanted to do something more recent with both 5.0s and 4.6s 2vs together.

Maybe a $250 claimer rule on the short block.

LOL no random tear downs. It is not that serious. Going to be on the honor system here. Anybody could make a stroked high compression car win. No fun in that.

For the most part times will start being posted in March, but if we have any body interested in the warmer states making passes already they can be accepted.

No teardown, no honor system.

It ain't as easy as it sounds! Look at the dirt tracks.......

"honor system". Let me tell you about that. I manage a park, happens to have a boat ramp. GF runs the office. $5 to launch per day 12am until 11:59pm. Office is open 10am until 6pm. Before 10am, typically about 25 boats launch. In the summer, that doubles, and doubles again after 6pm. On the office window is a notice, if you're going to launch your boat before or after office hours, drop $5 into the box. I check the box every night before I turn in. It's always empty, but usually count up to 50 boats launching from 6pm until about 11:30, which is when I hit the hay. Sometimes there'll be a $5 bill in there. Sometimes a boater will stop at the office and pay her what they didn't put in the box the day they showed up before or after hours. I'd say less than 1% of the time either happens. And you think an honor system is going to work with drag racers? That's hilarious.

What is racing? It's all about who can bend the rules and not get caught.....the best racers bend them quite a bit. Notice I didn't say "break". BTDT.

"stock short block". Yeah sure, 15:1 pushrod BIG windsor turning 9500 through the traps, making 1000hp NA. It's a stock block alright. STock right from Dart. "Stock" pistons and crank too-right from JE and Bryant, respectively.

Been through this stuff. Speaking from experiences. Sounds-and works-good at first, but after a while it goes downhill when a guy takes out a second mortgage on the house to pay for his "stock shortblock".

Good luck....

My guess is the 5.0 will do the best based on my experiences. if both are allowed ported heads, ported intakes , cam, carbed or injected

If someone feels the need to cheat while participating in this challenge, that's on them. There's no pay out on the line, so do what you want. Its just a way to get a little trash talking going during the off-season so pushrod 5.0 guys can feel good about their setups before the time slips from 2Vs start rolling in.

So the data collected will not be legit. No one will really know who is stock or not. Trash talk will indeed happen............(poster #1)"look how fast my "stock" block junk runs" (poster #2) "that ain't "stock" Bit*h, prove it is stock" (poster #1) F*** you A-hole, you prove it ain't stock". And so it goes, Lol. It will be entertaining.

Do a power adder class, make this interesting. I have two to throw into the mix maybe.

I fear Chris Watson may already be a large step ahead in this class though

Cool challenge. Though I have to admit the extra cubes of the pushrod and the plethora of options for pushrod cars lead me to believe that they will win. If the 4v was included I’d be split.

I'm sure there will be some passes being made at Capitol this season. A few of us are always between there and MIR. However anyone is open to run anywhere they like. Just post up your best slips.
