Atco 10/20/17

I'm heading to Atco Friday night. Anyone else? My car is in my sig; it's a white hatch.
I'm just putting a few runs on it (just a toy) to try to improve on my 11.56. I've added a glass hood and relocated uppers since last time. Working on a better burnout, too. Stop and say hi.

I'll be there but only to spectate. My car's not together and my nine year old wants to see some cars run.

I made 3 runs.
11.81 @117 1.68
11.69 @118 1.65
11.85 @117 1.62
Best last time, before relocated uppers: [email protected] Car has gone 121 with drag radials, that I couldn't launch properly (no good et)
1st run same launch rpm as last time out. (5000)
Last two runs I upped the launch to 5500 because it seemed to be hooking hard and even bogging a bit. Seems the relocated uppers are working, I can't figure out how to utilize them.
I did much better burnouts. I used 3rd gear, I used 2nd previously.
I don't keep track of air, but it was similar.
I need to get a good video of the launch to see what's happening. The first two runs felt like it bogged a bit. The 3rd, it felt like the front bobbed up and down.
15 psi in the tires.
I have the shift light at 5600, but it hits the factory limiter (6250, I believe) on most shifts.
I think the Baseline Suspensions relocated uppers will show something. I need to look into them further.

I hope to go back before they close the winter.

I edited my first post to include more info. Oh, also I had the strange struts set on 5 in the rear, full loose in the front, as I have before. Maybe the front is too loose? I need a video.

I just checked the timing because I haven't in YEARS. I have used a scribe mark when I have moved the distributor. It was at 10*, I usually have it at 14*. Duh, check it with a light!
Maybe that will help, can't hurt.
I'm also going to check for boost leaks. Why not?

What did it 60ft Friday nite? What tire pressure you running in ET radials? Stick cars are very tricky getting to hook on radials compared to bias ply.

60' times are listed.

15 psi, also listed.

Sorry for the confusion about the radials. I used to run them. I should've said my combo is in my sig. ET R's the last two times out. No problem launching them. The radials were near impossible to launch.

When you launch are you dumping the clutch ? You said it dead hooks causing the bog from motor being pulled down. A few things that you can try are slowing down the rise of the front end by tightening the front struts. Go from full loose to a middle adjustment. Some guys will increase rear tire pressure 1 pound at at time until tires spins, then lower back down. If tire has more air in it the sidewall wont collapse as much and act stiffer. Stick cars love stiff sidewall tires. Some guys will adjust launch technique to slow down the release of clutch pedal so RPM willl stay up and wont allow for a bog. You just have to keep making passes to find out what it likes best. With the MPH your running should be able to get close to the 11.30's

I use a 2 step, and yes, I'm dumping the clutch as I release the button. It's what I've done in the past. This time, however, it seemed like the motor wasn't making power for a split second as it came off of the 2 step. Thus, the sensation of bogging.

I'll try tightening the front struts. I'm hoping to get a video the next time out before I start changing stuff.

I'll try going up in tire pressure too. Good idea.

I've never raced a stick car that was this quick. I have to get some more seat time, for sure.

It was such a pain with the radials, it seems like a different car now that it's behaving somewhat normal. Floor it, dump the clutch and start shifting! It's a blast!
