Buddy of mine has a '69 Chevelle, also a 540" BBC, and it runs exactly .1 slower than my lowly small block Ford. Gets under his skin too. What's a chevelle weigh? They heavy or?

'92GT, 427" and '93 "LXVO" coupe

Heavy lead sleds. About 3600 lbs from the factory. If you are at 3000 lbs you need 20% less power to tie.

As long as you get traction, it's all about weight to horsepower ratio.

89 LX. 363, single turbo, Super Vic EFI, TFS high port heads by TEA, solid roller, glide. Holley HP EFI. (exact combo varies)

Thanks, Tom. I wasn't aware that they were THAT heavy. Wow. No wonder.

I have a '69 SS396 all original 4 speed car. Weighs about 3550. Not a fast as my fox but rides way better. Neither of which are " race cars" by any means. Just cruisers
