Drag Racing Flywheel

Trying to pick a flywheel...RAM 2525 vs Competition Clutch 2-48-ST

RAM Flywheel

Competition Clutch Flywheel

Comp Clutch is suppose to be around 16lbs, is made of steel, and is cheaper, however I've only heard of import guys running them. Does anyone in here have any experience or recommendations?

Do you need SFI rating?

Have used the RAM aluinum w/aluminum L/W pressure plate on 347 NA 7500+ rpm for 6-7 years, holding up great.

347 8.2" deck, Vic Jr, Edelbrock XT, FAST XFI 2.0, A5 10.9 1/4 mile (will be in the 9's 2016)

Yes, needs to be SFI rated, I was unaware they made aluminum pressure plates

Looks like I'll be going with the RAM set up

The pressure plate has, as I recall, a steel Outer Shell while the disc contacting thr clutch plate has a thin steel- layer on top of aluminium. Not saving alot weight, as on the flywheel, but a bit...

I chose the LW setup as I was going roadracing, but the last 3 years there has been more drag than anyhing else. Car is LW too, though.

Had great uck With other RAM cluches as well.

The Competition Clutch was New to me, looks interesting. I ave wondered going With a 2 or 3 disc, 7-8" setup next time around. However, one disc etups are simpler, easy to set up, so I'll stick to that unless there are strict needs to move on to something New....
