Which C/C plates with Strange 10-ways?

Installed a complete Team Z front suspension in my Fox this weekend. Went to install the Strange coil overs and realized they won't work with my old-school Hotchkis CC plates. Even their site says, "Not recommended for coil overs."

Apparently, the Strange strut shafts are slightly undersized. MM's site says the Strange struts will clunk with their plates because of the undersize. Team Z's plates will work but they are not real great looking. I have a fully polished engine compartment.

What's a good CC plate that looks decent and works well with the Strange struts??

Well even though the Team Z's are not the best looking, from what I've searched, they seem to be made specifically to fit Strange struts and have the most amount of adjustment. I actually like that they are steel as it's more rigid than aluminum.

UPR seems to make a good CC plate, but I have no idea how it fits the strut shaft. So now I am deciding between the two. Guess I could always powder coat the Team Z's, I'm leaning towards them for sure....

I have the Team Z front tubular setup 14/150 springs, strange 10ways, and UPR plates. They have the "clunk" described on the MM site. Gonna be swapping out for Team Z plates in the next couple of weeks.

They only had 2 sets left. I ordered about 20 minutes ago so only 1 left now. I paid for 2-day shipping as I need them by the end of the week. I will post my results.

Their site has a special note that says the Strange struts will make noise with their CC plates.

The UPR's definitely look a lot better and would match the rest of my engine bay. However, I like the fact that the Team Z are basically engineered around a Strange strut and the bearings are even designed to fit more snug on a Strange strut. Dave Z confirmed this in an email.

I'm looking to get a set of Team Z plates too. I currently have the MM 4 bolts and they're loud as hell with the strange struts. If I were you, I would get the Team Z plates and get those chrome plated and put those in. They'll look great like that and they'll work quietly! From what I gather its hit or miss with how well the MM plates work with the strange struts so I wouldn't take the chance on them in my opinion.

I got the Team Z plates and installed them. They work excellent with the Strange struts. Fit perfect and well designed. While not the fanciest, they don't look bad at all.

I'm currently working on my own "clunk" diagnosis. I have all the Team Z front end components installed with Strange 10 ways. At this point I've narrowed it down to the drivers side caster/camber plate, there's a small amount of play in the spherical bushing up and down.

1990 Coupe, 302/AOD, stock cam/short block, AFR 165's, 3.55's. Working on a N/A stroker build.

I put 10 ways on my otherwise stock front end 87. It clunked. The tips of the struts were hitting the hood! I loosened them up. -Whoops- Just a heads up.
There is a noise still. But it's not too bad. I don't like any noises, though. I hate it when an aftermarket part is marketed as being an end-all, and then I find out it was not designed right. And it shouldn't have a noise. I'll find out what it is and fix this myself, as has happened numerous times over the years with some aftermarket crap. Then, I will never use Strange products again.

Edit: I do have BBK CC plates. Shouldn't matter, though. This should be considered by the part's manufacturer.

All aftermarket parts need adjustment to fit perfect.

It is just the way things are.

I have a set of MM CC plates waiting to go on my coupe. Not sure if I want to install them yet because i want to get strange 10 ways front and back. The diameter on the strange strut is a little smaller than a regular strut. Dont know why that is though. Has anyone actually measured the diameter of a strange strut and a regular strut and the diameter of the MM CC plate?

If its the case where they are smaller, i think I'll go with lakewood 70/30's in front and strange 10 ways in back. Does anyone run a setup like this?

If you look up MM C/C plates in their site, it gives a detailed description of the Strange/ MM fitment issue. They have the dimensions listed as well.

From the MM site:

"Strange struts: For unknown reasons, Strange makes their strut shaft undersized. It is 0.619" in diameter instead of the standard Mustang size of 0.629" (16mm). This allows the strut shaft to move within the 16mm spherical bearing, causing noise, unless the strut shaft retaining nut is extremely tight."
