UPDATE: Another New Best [email protected]

Sorry to bore you all but its been requested that I update my times.
So here is the story, added more jet to my carb and the car picked up
a bunch. Went from 84s to 87 square! This is a N/A mustang!
Ran this last weekend, did 4 runs in the 1/8th. Was a nice warm day
low 70s with some humidity but not to bad.
1st pass [email protected]
2nd pass [email protected]

Other 2 pass were mid 6.20s the track started to go away. I been told this should be good enough for a low 9.70 in the 1/4. but who knows lol.
Thanks for looking at my car.

Thanks Kwik68. I wonder if you got rid of the x pipe and added a super vic if that would do it for ya. Heads are a little small IMO for 427 cubes but it can get done. Have any video of that 68 at the track?

Yeah I know the heads are too a little small, but if I went with a 225 head I would'nt be able to get a larger header to fit. Bummer What would you suggest instead of an X pipe? I don't really care for running open headers.

Here are a couple vids:

Well you could try open header to see if it picks up. If it does then you might want to try headers and just mufflers. BTW that car of yours is bad to the bone. I love it!

I've never run it at the track open headers, but I will wait and see what the E85 does for it first My best 1/4 time is 10.22 @ 131, i should be getting really close. Oh and yes those headers were challenging.

Thanks for the compliments as well. I too am very impressed with your combo. 408, pump gas, holy cow. I can only imagine what it will run when you get it completely "dialed and broken" in. That thing is "sick"!!

Congrats, I know you have been working on it a loooooooong time, and it obviously paid off.

Not bad for a motor that has a pair of 30 year old out-of-date heads on it.

Nutzz, what rpm are you having to shift with that dinosaur pair of heads? About 15,000?

LOL I use C302 heads, the aluminum version of C-Heads. I shift at 7400 lol it wants 7800. Eventually I will put this engine on kill mode

I was there at the track when Toonuts ran his new low ET. All the guys were asking if it had a supercharger or nitrous? I would guess that with some suspension work so it can handle full transbrake launches, and a little fine tuning, it will make it into the high 5s.

The C heads have the smallest (as cast) ports of the 3 cleveland type A302, B302, and C302 heads. The C302s were originally made to support a 320 ci or smaller motor.

No telling what it would do with a pair of A3s.
